Welcome to Possibilities in Practice! We’re Kamini and Dragana, co-creators of this free professional learning series for educators. Together with our guest speakers, we look forward to creating a space for conversation, shared learning, and exploring new possibilities in educational practice. Sometimes a fresh perspective or a conversation with a colleague can open up new possibilities in our everyday practice. That’s the idea behind Possibilities in Practice, our free talk series! This series brings educators and researchers together to explore ideas, reflect on familiar approaches, and consider what these conversations might mean in our own educational settings. We look forward to having you join us in meaningful conversations and learning together.

Dragana Mirkovic is a doctoral candidate (ABD) in the Faculty of Education at York University with a background in early childhood education and educational psychology. Her work brings psychoanalysis, relational ethics, and reconceptualist approaches to education into conversation to explore complex phenomena with children, including illusive understandings of spirituality, difficulty, and questions of life and death. Through relational, embodied, and arts-based inquiry, she attends to how children encounter and make meaning of the world, and how these encounters invite educators to reconsider assumptions about childhood, teaching, and education itself.

Kamini Kamdar is an educator, researcher, and PhD candidate in Education at York University. She brings extensive experience in Kindergarten teaching, teacher education, and professional learning, with a focus on culturally responsive pedagogy, meaningful family engagement, and pedagogical documentation. Her doctoral research explores Ontario Kindergarten educators’ perspectives and practices in working with newcomer children and families. Through her teaching, research, and collaborations with educators in Canada and internationally, Kamini connects theory with everyday practice to nurture equity, belonging, and new possibilities for learning.
