It’s been a while since I’ve posted on Instagram and this post is part of the reason why! 🎉✨⁣

Excited to share that my friend @draganaa08 and I have co-authored a chapter in this book, Early Childhood Education and Care in a Pandemic. This book is really interesting because it highlights the realities of ECE during the Covid-19 pandemic. We were fortunate enough to be the Canadian submission! 🇨🇦
⁣
Last year, as the pandemic began to unfold, we started thinking about the challenges AND opportunities for pedagogical growth. Our chapter, Education and Care: Expanding Traditional Pedagogies With(in) a Pandemic talks about new possibilities for pedagogical documentation in virtual and hybrid learning. ✨⁣
⁣
So, wanted to check in and say - if you don’t see a lot of me - I’m here! Just working away so I can share some good research with you soon! 🙂 ⁣

P.S. I have a new found appreciation for the book making + publishing process. It takes a long time from start to publication! This book took pretty much a year to get to pre-publishing, and it will be available in July.

Merry Christmas! ✨ Even though this was year two of an outdoor Christmas for us, I’m feeling extra thankful that everyone is happy and healthy. I hope you are having a great day celebrating inside or outside!✨🎄

On Sunday, my neighbours dropped off some latkas,

On Sunday, my neighbours dropped off some latkas, apple sauce and sour cream for Hannukah. They were delicious! It was really nice because we have been sharing parts of our culture for a while now (Diwali and Hannukah sweets, recipes and home cooking) ❤️ … and it got me thinking about how lucky we all are to live in such a diverse and multicultural country. ✨

There’s something so special about the first snow of the season! ❄️ ⁣

We set up this mini winter provocation for our class this week. The children were really helpful in sorting all the materials and we already have a ‘line up’ to play at it. Our class really seems to enjoy a place to have quiet moments of play, so we’re going to try and create a few more of these individual loose parts play areas. ✨ ⁣

1. Crotchet / Felt Trees ⁣
2. Blue + White ‘gemstones’ ⁣
3. Green and White Buttons ⁣
4. Assorted size wood beads ⁣
5. Mini Pinecones ⁣

These are just the materials we have, you can use anything. I usually just like to stick to colours that lend themselves to creating a realistic nature scene - but so many options of materials! 🎄

Today in the busy-ness of hybrid teaching/learning

Today in the busy-ness of hybrid teaching/learning, I found N.L. tracing a leaf he brought in from the yard outside. He noticed that because it was by the window, the leaves casted some shadows and he became really interested in them. His tracing around the leaves “are where the shadows are”. 🌳✨
